      Not only interesting because it used to be an auto parts store, but the home of the Barnard Street Mercantile also sports a classic Texas exterior mural. Historically a mercantile is described as a store owned by local investors, selling merchandise that other retailers don't carry. That is certainly true of this newest shop in historic Glen Rose, Texas. It is home to vintage, antique, repurposed and handcrafted items as well as carefully chosen new merchandise.

     This is a lovely space full of beautifully displayed locally made jams and jellies, sports memorabilia, fashion and everything in between. Repurposed glassware has evolved into garden decor, hand crafted cutting boards sit with vintage duck decoys, vintage glass and pottery, kitchenware and and furniture pieces fill the space. Be sure and check out the large wagon now filled with seasonal items and the dramatic tree loaded with shell art.
